Sounds like you were at the Soquee River off 197, if you were I know where the stone foundation is. I had a big black bear walk up on me early one morning there. I was standing in the river in my waders and he came down the bank on the far side and walked half way across the river on a rock. I didnt move and I didnt breathe he never looked directly at me. He smelled up in the air and looked up the river and down the river put his paw in the water and splashed around a little. He didnt look at me but I know he knew I was there he was only about 10 feet from me. That got my blood pumping.
