So there's this podcast out there called "Don't Whistle at Night" that broadcasts on the United Public Radio Network out of New Orleans, and the hosts Don Yazi and Darren Yazy recently had a guest on that got my attention in a big way. The guest? None other than Jesus Payan Jr., an actor you might recognize from Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul where he played a character called Gonzo. He's also been in films like Two Guns with Mark Wahlberg and even fought John Cena in a project called The Reunion. Pretty wild resume, right?
But here's where it gets really interesting for anyone who follows Sasquatch research. Jesus has stepped back from acting to chase after what he calls his "ambitions and dreams," and Bigfoot is right at the top of that list. He's been out in the field, he's got stories, and he's got plans. During the conversation, he invited Don and Darren out to his neck of the woods in Mescalero Apache to do some hunting together, and the energy between these three was honestly electric. You can tell Jesus is the real deal when it comes to this stuff.
One of the coolest things he talked about was a children's book series he's been working on. Get this, the titles include "Little Bigfoot in White Sands," "Little Bigfoot in Space," and "Little Bigfoot Going Through Wormholes." Wormholes! I love that he's weaving Sasquatch into these wild cosmic adventures for kids. Jenny from Squatching Rama New Mexico actually popped into the chat to give him props, and she's got her own children's book series about Bigfoot too. The whole exchange was such a wholesome moment between researchers and storytellers who are trying to get the next generation interested in the unknown.
Jesus also teased a comic book project called "Breaking the Dead" that's coming out in 2026. It's a mashup of Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead universes, and apparently fans have been speculating for years that those two shows exist in the same world. Jesus decided the fans deserved an answer, so he's making it happen. Not gonna lie, that's a creative way to bridge two iconic franchises.
The chat was rolling the entire time with people from all over New Mexico, Arizona, and beyond. There was talk about Jerome, Arizona being one of the most haunted towns in the state, with some pretty grim history involving bones being mixed into concrete for walkways. No wonder that place has a reputation. Farmington came up too, with Jesus describing it as a "weird town" full of cryptic everything, including UFO activity. And there's apparently a film festival coming up in Gallup, New Mexico that's got the whole community buzzing. Details are supposed to drop soon on TikTok, YouTube, and Facebook, so keep an eye out for that.
One commenter, Dead Wolf 66, mentioned that one of Jesus's YouTube videos featuring a sighting along a cliff and the San Juan River isn't far from their own childhood sightings. That's the kind of connection that makes this community so tight, when witnesses realize they've been seeing the same things in the same regions without even knowing each other.
Jesus has been tattooing for over 30 years on top of everything else, and the way he talks about Bigfoot research, you can tell this isn't just a hobby for him. It's a calling. The conversation between him, Don, and Darren flows naturally, and you get the sense that these guys are building something bigger than just a podcast. They're building a network of people who actually want to get out there and look for evidence together.
If you haven't checked out this episode yet, do yourself a favor and go find it. The chemistry between the hosts and their guest is exactly what this kind of content needs, and Jesus brings a perspective you don't often hear in Sasquatch circles. Plus, any time someone mentions wormholes and Little Bigfoot in the same breath, you know it's going to be a good time.
