So there's this wild podcast episode that just popped up on YouTube, and honestly, it's got a little bit of everything — celebrity guest, Bigfoot research, haunted towns, UFO talk, and even a comic book crossover that sounds straight out of a fever dream. The episode comes from the channel UFO GODS & EXTRATERRESTRIALS and features the show "Don't Whistle at Night," hosted by Don Yazi and Darren, broadcasting out of the United Public Radio Network 107.7 FM in New Orleans.
The big draw here is their guest, Jesus Payan Jr. — and if that name sounds familiar, it should. He's the actor known for playing Gonzo on Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, plus roles in Two Guns alongside Mark Wahlberg and The Reunion with John Cena. The guy's been in some serious projects. But here's the twist — he's stepped back from acting to chase after something a whole lot more mysterious. He's now the face behind the Breaking Bigfoot Research Project, based out of Mescalero, New Mexico.
During the conversation, Jesus opens up about his journey into the Sasquatch world and how it's become a full-blown passion. He's been tattooing for over 30 years, writes books, and is even working on a comic book series called "Breaking the Dead" — a mashup of Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead that supposedly explains how Walter White's meth empire led to the zombie apocalypse. That one drops in 2026, so keep an eye out.
But the real meat of the episode is the Bigfoot talk. Jesus mentions he's been spending time up at what's called the "Upper Foot Land" near Farmington, New Mexico, and the hosts agree that Farmington is one of those strange towns where weird stuff just happens — UFOs, cryptids, you name it. There's also a mention of a sighting along the San Juan River that apparently lines up with childhood encounters some locals have had. And if that wasn't enough, the crew talks about Jericho Reservation and Lake Herron in Louisiana being prime Sasquatch territory.
The community aspect of this episode is really cool too. There's a whole network of researchers popping into the chat — Squatching Rama out of New Mexico, Jenny who's written seven Bigfoot children's books (Little Bigfoot in White Sands, Little Bigfoot in Space, Little Bigfoot going through wormholes — how awesome is that?), and folks from Gallup, New Mexico where a Bigfoot film festival is apparently in the works. Jerome, Arizona even gets a shoutout as a seriously haunted town, which tracks considering the bone-laced concrete walkways the locals were talking about.
Jesus also teases some upcoming adventures, including taking the hosts out hunting in his neck of the woods around Mescalero. With his wife's family visiting from Australia and his son getting to meet his extended family, the guy's clearly in a good place personally, and that energy carries into the whole conversation.
This one's worth the watch if you're into the Sasquatch community, especially the New Mexico scene. The blend of Hollywood credibility and genuine fieldwork makes Jesus Payan Jr. a fascinating voice in the research world.
