Gold miners in Alaska have long reported sightings of a particularly aggressive and elusive Bigfoot they call the Woodsman. According to legend, this Bigfoot is seven to nine feet tall, weighs between 500 and 700 pounds, and is covered in dark brown fur. Recently, a group of monster hunters set out to Zone 18, also known as Gold Country, to track down the Woodsman.
Ray and Lori, a lifelong Alaskan gold mining couple, claim to have had an encounter with the Woodsman at their mining claim. They describe hearing a sharp howl and then seeing a large creature running on hind legs across their yard. Ray grabbed his shotgun and saw the creature disappear into the woods.
The monster hunters were able to get permission to investigate Ray and Lori's mining claim and set out to find the cabin where the encounter took place. Upon arrival, they found that the cabin had been stripped of everything and that other miners had been in the area. However, they did find broken branches and peeled bark on a tree, indicating that something big and heavy had moved through the area.
One of the monster hunters, Bulldog, caught a glimpse of something moving in the trees and the team set out to investigate. They didn't find anything, but the thermal imaging camera picked up a heat signature on the trees.
The team plans to return to the area in the daylight to set up camp and continue their investigation. They are determined to find the Woodsman and are prepared to spend several days in the area.
In addition to the exciting possibility of finding the Woodsman, this video also offers some interesting information about the history of gold mining in Alaska. Ray's father was a gold miner in the 1940s, 50s, and early 60s, and Ray himself married into the gold mining lifestyle. The video also highlights the challenges of mining in the area, such as the rough terrain and the presence of other miners who may not be friendly.
