Ghostly Encounter in Cumberland: A Tenant's Chilling Experience with an 'Anal Retentive Ghost'

The house, built on a hill, had a store room beneath the stairs and a sun room where bikes were kept. The first floor had a family room and a bathroom, while the second floor contained the kitchen and several bedrooms. The third level had an attic apartment, accessible from the outside, where the witness and his girlfriend stayed. The witness's boyfriend mentioned that the house was haunted, particularly by a ghost that seemed to be angry with one resident in particular, whom we'll call "Scapegoat." Scapegoat's bedroom was the largest and nicest in the house, with a picture window, beautiful dental molding, and a crystal chandelier. However, it was filled with piles of garbage due to Scapegoat's lack of cleanliness. The next day, Scapegoat had soot fingerprints on his face that weren't there the night before. Footsteps were heard going to the bathroom, into her room, and up the boarded-up stairs to the attic. The ghost seemed to be aware of the witness but didn't seem aggressive towards her. The following day, the witness and her boyfriend visited the attic apartment, where they noticed a large garland of garlic hanging over the doorway. The witness mentioned that garlic has no effect on ghosts, but the resident didn't seem to believe her. Later, while having drinks with other residents, the witness's beer can was moved incrementally towards a coaster. She felt a cold spot in the center of the table and saw the ghost standing there. Although nobody else could see the ghost, the party moved locations after the witness shared her experience.
