Have you ever had a chilling encounter in the wilderness that left you questioning what really lurks out there? The YouTube channel Campfire Cult Podcast recently shared a video titled "10 Terrifying Wilderness Encounters That Will Haunt Your Next Hike: True Scary Stories in the Wild," and it's definitely worth a watch for any Bigfoot enthusiast.
In the video, the host shares a story of a hike along the Goat Canyon Trestle in Southern California. The Trestle is an abandoned wooden structure built in the early 1900s, and it's located deep in the desert near the Mexico border. The hike to the Trestle is known for its rugged terrain and beautiful views, but it can also be a bit eerie, especially as the sun begins to set.
The story begins with the hiker and their family making their way up into the hills towards the canyon that leads to the Trestle. As they hike, they come across a small grove of fan palms, which the hiker describes as feeling "a little creepy." They continue on and eventually find the canyon that leads down to the Trestle.
As they make their way down the canyon, the hiker and their uncle start seeing strange things. They both swear they see the hiker's mom at the top of the canyon looking down at them, but when they call out to her, there's no response. They continue on, but the hiker's uncle eventually has to go ahead alone to get some pictures.
The hiker is left alone, trying to mend a twisted ankle, when they see something large move out of the corner of their eye up the canyon. They feel a sense of dread wash over them and start to freak out. When they look back up the canyon again, they see their mom standing at the top, but when they call out to her, she doesn't respond.
Eventually, the hiker's uncle returns and they make their way back up the canyon in the dark. The hiker describes the darkness as feeling "like I couldn't see my hand in front of my face," but luckily, their uncle had a small headlamp to guide the way.
The story is a chilling reminder of the strange and unexplained things that can happen in the wilderness. It's definitely worth a watch for any Bigfoot believer. Who knows, it might even make you think twice before embarking on your next hike!
