A few days ago, I stumbled upon an intriguing video from the YouTube channel "Not So Perfect Bigfoot Show" that caught my attention. In this video, the host interviews Thomas Seawood, a native Watchman from the Kwakwaka’wakw First Nations of Northern Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. Thomas shares his personal experiences and encounters with Sasquatch, the creature also known as Bigfoot. Thomas has had numerous encounters with Sasquatch throughout his life, particularly during his time as a native Watchman in his traditional tribal territories. He recounts a chilling story of his first close encounter with the creature while at his trailer in a secluded bay. After hearing strange noises and smelling unusual odors, Thomas and his friend discovered large, unusual tracks near their trailer. It wasn't until the following year that they realized they had been in the presence of a Sasquatch. During a commercial salmon fishing trip, Thomas and his crew heard strange noises and witnessed two bipedal shadows moving across the front of their trailer. They soon spotted a large male and female Sasquatch on the beach, and despite their attempts to scare the creatures away, they remained stationary for over 25 minutes. After turning off the spotlight, the crew heard the Sasquatches move into the nearby hemlock and cedar trees. Thomas also discusses the importance of acknowledging the correct names for indigenous groups and their territories. He explains that the term "Chipawa," which was given to his tribe by the Cree, is considered derogatory. Instead, he prefers to use the term "Den" or "Lut," which are more respectful and accurate names for his people. The stories shared by Thomas in this video are captivating and provide a unique perspective on Sasquatch encounters. I highly recommend watching the video to fully appreciate his experiences and insights. You can find it on the "Not So Perfect Bigfoot Show" YouTube channel.
