Minister and Son Photograph Bigfoot During Tense Trail Standoff

So there's this wild interview that popped up on the Creek Devil YouTube channel, and honestly, it's one of those encounters that sticks with you long after you finish watching. The guest, Norma, shares a story she was given by a friend about a sighting in Connecticut — and the witness happens to be a minister. Yeah, a pastor. Walking a trail with his seven-year-old son on a chilly weekday morning in late February.
Now, here's where it gets interesting. The little boy was apparently a fan of Finding Bigfoot, so when his dad said he could do some whoops out on the trail, the kid gave it a shot. Nothing came back. They kept walking. Then a rock — somewhere between a baseball and a softball in size — lands on the path behind them. The pastor turns around, but there's nothing there. And remember, this is February in Connecticut. No leaves on the trees. No snow on the ground. Visibility should be decent. Yet the rock just appeared out of nowhere.
They continue their hike, turn around, and head back toward the trailhead. The little boy looks up to his right and spots something on a ridge about 15 feet above them. What he sees is a Bigfoot walking along that ridge — and the pastor describes seeing muscle contractions under the hair, especially in the buttocks area as it walked. He mentions the arms being incredibly long, and says he felt dwarfed by the creature, even though he's 64 and a big guy himself.
Then comes the part that really got me. The creature was about 75 yards away on the ridge, and it jumped down about 15 feet like it was absolutely nothing. But instead of just turning and walking away — which is what these beings typically do according to most reports — it turned and FACED them. Norma even points this out during the interview, noting how unusual that behavior is.
The pastor and his son are standing there, maybe 30 to 40 feet from this creature, and it's blocking the only path back to the trailhead. The pastor, to his credit, had the presence of mind to pull out his work flip phone and snap a couple of pictures. And here's another fascinating detail — the creature squatted down to try to hide behind a small hill or rise in the land, but it couldn't because it was too big. It tried twice, stood back up, and then eventually walked away.
The pastor refused to go back to the location after that. He circled the approximate area on a trail map for Norma, but that was it. Norma and her husband did visit the area to try to find the exact spot, but without the witness showing them firsthand, they could only guesstimate.
What makes this encounter stand out is a few things. First, the rock throw — that's classic Sasquatch behavior that has been reported countless times across North America, often as a way to get attention or test how humans react. Second, the creature's decision to face the witnesses rather than just disappearing into the woods. Third, the attempted hiding behavior, which suggests some level of awareness or even curiosity about concealment. And fourth, the fact that there are actual photographs from this encounter, taken on a flip phone back in the day.
Connecticut isn't exactly the first place people think of when it comes to Bigfoot sightings, but the Northeast has a long history of reports — from the famous 1974事件 in New Hampshire to ongoing encounters throughout the Appalachian region and beyond. The wooded areas around suburban New England provide plenty of cover for a large, elusive hominid to move through without being detected.
The interview itself is worth watching just to hear Norma break down the encounter in her own words and add her own observations about why certain behaviors stood out to her. Creek Devil has been doing this kind of work for over four decades, and their host William Jebning brings his own two-time witness experience to the table.
Definitely check out the full video if you want all the details — there's a lot more nuance in how Norma tells it, and the way she analyzes the creature's behavior is really compelling.
