A fascinating video recently caught my eye, discussing the wild men of Myanmar, also known as the mountain men of Myanmar. The YouTube channel, LifeofMondays, delves into the history and witness accounts of these mysterious creatures. The video begins with an account from 1891, where an author writing a book on big game hunting in Myanmar describes a story told by the deputy conservator of forests at the time, Mr. Bruce. Mr. Bruce spoke of a 1.2m (approximately 4ft) tall, tail-less ape that attacked his crew, leading to Mr. Bruce shooting and mortally wounding the animal. After the animal expired, Mr. Bruce noted its size to be just under that of an orangutan. When he returned to the local villagers, they were not surprised and described the animal as the "Wildman of the woods." The video continues with an encounter from 1939, where an explorer reportedly worked with local men who came face-to-face with the beast. They initially thought they had found barefoot human footprints, but upon further examination, they realized the footprints were 16,000 ft in the air on the side of a mountain. The guides referred to the creature as a "mountain man." Another reputable account of the Myanmar Wildman comes from a survey conducted by the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources and the American Committee for International Wildlife Protection between 1959 and 1960. The surveyors noted the possibility of an unidentified ape living in the mountains of the area. The description of this unidentified ape is eerily similar to previous accounts. The video also touches on a zoologist, Colonel H.Wong, who wrote about encounters with the Wildman in the 1940s. One of the encounters describes pressure ridges in the tracks, a distinctive signature of North American Sasquatch tracks. While these accounts are intriguing, it's good to remember that none of the content in the video is our own. However, it's always exciting to explore the unknown and consider the possibility of undiscovered creatures in the world. If you're interested in learning more, be sure to check out the video on LifeofMondays' YouTube channel. And as always, keep an open mind and stay curious.
