Huge and hard to explain tree break along Appalachian Trail near McAfee Knob in Virginia

The Cryptid Kidd posted a video that was recorded by his friend showing a huge and hard to explain tree break along the Appalachian Trail near McAfee Knob in Virginia. The tree is about 10 inches diameter and the break is about 12 feet off the ground. There doesn't appear to be any large damaged trees near it or on the ground. What do you think?
