It’s based on an old Basque fairy tale and well worth the watch. An exorcism is the religious or spiritual cleansing of a person or a place that is thought to be possessed. All the major religions in the world perform some form of exorcism even though their view of what causes a person to be possessed varies. Tonight though, we are going to focus on famous exorcisms While Vice News comes from the opinion that there are scientific explanations for what most people call possessions, they did a really good video with Father Lampert, a well known exorcist, about what he does: A few years ago a movie called “The Exorcism of Emily Rose” was released to terrify audiences everywhere. What is interesting is that it was based on the true exorcism case of Anneliese Michel. Beyond the actual story, this exorcism is famous because it actually went to court. It is the true story of Roland Doe, the exorcism case behind the movie “The Exorcist”: If those couple of stories aren’t enough for you, here are a few more that you may not have heard of: Whether you are a believer in demonic possession or you believe it is only an expression of extreme mental illness, it is undeniable that these stories are creepy and scary if it hits close to home. It’s understandable that a person would seek any and all help if something like this strikes someone they love, and as long as religion and spirituality is around, exorcisms will continue.
