Tonight's Squatchable Halloween Countdown: Day 19 – Behind every tree is a new monster – other forest monsters Movie: The Giant Gila Monster – For a bit of a break from all those rated R movies, here is some classic monster horror at its finest! Okay, maybe not finest but it kind of has a classic Sharknado vibe for me. Available to watch with Amazon Prime. Here on Squatchable we know Bigfoot and Dogmen as well as all the local names for these cryptids. Toss in the Chupacabra as well as Nessie and you have the most well-known quartet of cryptids. Tonight we are going to look at a few other cryptids that aren’t as famous but are reported to be out in the mountains and forests of the world. If you live in the Congo, you are more familiar with the Mokele Mbembe than Bigfoot. It is described as a dinosaur that is comfortable in the water and in the forests of the Congo basin. Here is a short video about the Mokele Mbembe:
The Huay Chivo of the Yucatan Peninsula on the surface shares a lot of similarities with the Chupacabra but a closer examination shows that it is quite different. It is described as half-goat, half-man and it is described as a shape-shifter. Take a look:
In the European Alps there is a creature that is called the Alps Dragon by some but Tatzelwurm or Stollenwurm by most. It does have a dragon look to it but I’ve read descriptions comparing it more to a gigantic weasel. Here is one of the few English videos on it:
And to round out the list, here is a list from Mattsquatch of 10 North American cryptids. Some of these are ones most people have never heard of. Take a look:
Hanging out on Squatchable you read stories of big hairy humans hanging out in the woods but hopefully these stories open your eyes to the other cryptids that might be watching you hike through the woods. Good night!
