From Tennessquatch: Recorded on September 11th, 2016, in Van Buren county, Tennessee.
Originally, I had planned to just have Gato describe what he witnessed on the night of Monday, August 8th 2016 (day three of our eight day trip into two different areas on the Cumberland Plateau with generational sighting histories), but decided to expand it a bit and share some pics related to such, for those whom might consider such interesting. On that night Gato, filmmaker Josh Manning and myself (Randy Hutchings), while on a deep woods hike (heading out around 11:00pm) into our most active area - our first at night, since we've begun researching this area on a weekly basis (since mid-Dec. of 2015 to now), began scanning the woods (about 40yrds from where I had a rock thrown at me in June -
) with high-luminescent flashlights, surprising us all when we noticed bright eyeshine about six feet off the ground, behind a small, tight group of two-three trees, roughly 60ft within the tree line. After we began spotlighting this thing, it dropped out of sight suddenly, before one of us noticed a few moments later that it was now behind several downed trees that were criss-crossing one another, about ten feet away from where we first spotted it. After a minute or so of watching this creature dropping behind the logs, only to pop back up, oft times it's eyes just-visible from behind the logs as it stared at us, Gato asked if he could walk into the woods towards it, in an attempt to verify what it was, and after seeing it drop down again, we told him to go for it, and he took off into the woods after it, ultimately getting to within 20-25ft of the creature, which reacted by "lizard-crawling" backwards, behind more downed trees, wide-eyed and staring, never breaking eye contact, before finally standing up and walking off. Though neither Manning or I witnessed the same level of detail that Gato did after he entered the woods, during the time we stood watching it peek-a-boo at us from behind those logs, we all agreed that we very clearly saw the heavy brows, the cheeks, the nose (primarily the thick bridge leading down), as well as "chocolate" brown-colored hair on it. It is our opinion that if you look closely, you can see the whites of the tree-peekers eyes, as well as their quite defined iris/pupils (please keep in mind, these are screen-captures from video taken at roughly sixty feet away). Gato's comments on the structure of the creatures nose reminded me of an odd photo that we took, back in mid-late June (21rst), 2016. On that day, during our trek back out of this area, we had a rock loudly strike a nearby tree, about thirty feet away from us. After standing there for a moment, just listening, we decided to keep on our way, and as we began to take our leave, I clicked my Galaxy S4 phone's video button (not realizing it was set to take photos, instead). After it snapped and alerted me to it not being on video, I switched it over and clicked record. Thus far I've found nothing in the video of note, but there is something rather strange looking in the photo (and I'm not a big fan of little-red-circles-explained, if ya know what I'm saying). I should add, the comment made by Gato at 00:41 seconds about "yeah, well, after the cabin incident" is in reference to another incident that took place later that same night (Aug. 8th), as well as off and on throughout the rest of our stay at the nearby site we camped at, but I'll leave that story for future video.
