If you're anything like me, you probably didn't have "Bigfoot in the Quantock Hills" on your 2024 bingo card, but here we are, and honestly, the footage coming out of Somerset, England right now is making even the most seasoned researchers do a double-take.
A recent video dropped from the YouTube channel Wild Dream Films and Monster 911, and it's part two of their UK Bigfoot investigation. The host, who normally chases Sasquatch and Dogmen reports back in the States, made the trip across the pond to dig into some seriously compelling reports coming out of the Quantock woods. And let me tell you, what he found there is the kind of stuff that keeps you up at night.
The story starts with Daniel Barnett and his grandmother, who discovered an 18-inch imprint in the Quantock woods. Let that sink in for a second. Eighteen inches. For context, that's roughly the size of a print you'd expect from something well over seven feet tall. Daniel extracted a soil sample from the print, which is exactly the kind of methodical work that separates casual hikers from serious researchers.
While in the area, the host also linked up with Chris Allford, a Bigfoot researcher who has been hooked on the subject since he was 11 years old. Chris has traveled extensively across Europe, the United States, and Canada looking for answers, and in August 2024, he finally had his own encounter in Washington State. He was so moved by what he saw that he got a tattoo of it. His description of the Sasquatch he observed is one of the most fascinating things I've heard in a while. He talked about how well-groomed the creature was, how the hair was absolutely beautiful, and how he was so overwhelmed he couldn't even speak for several minutes. He mentioned reports he's heard about them grooming each other and keeping each other free of ticks and termites, which honestly tracks with what a lot of longtime researchers have been saying for decades. These aren't mindless creatures wandering through the woods. There's intelligence there, and there's social behavior.
But here's where things get really interesting, and where I had to pause the video and just sit with what I was seeing.
A 10-year-old boy named Jett Jackson wanted to mimic what Daniel had been doing, so he reached out for advice and was told to get out in the forest and take videos. So that's exactly what he did, with his family. And what he captured is, frankly, some of the most striking footage I've seen in a long time.
In the video, Jett is walking through the woods at night, a little nervous, admitting it's his first time out at night. He's talking to the camera, and then suddenly, in the background, you see it. A figure between two trees, with arms extended, sliding down. The trees are about two meters, or six feet, apart, and you can actually see daylight between the tree and the torso of whatever this thing is. It happens fast, but it's there. It's clear. And it's not a person.
Chris's reaction to the footage is worth paying attention to. He's been doing this for years, traveling the world, and he called it some of the clearest footage he's ever seen, not just in the UK, but anywhere. He pointed out that this was captured by accident, in the background, by a kid who was just out there following the advice he was given. Meanwhile, researchers who have been at this for decades struggle to get anything close to this kind of clarity. That says something.
When asked what he thought it could be, Chris was straightforward. His mind goes to some type of ape or Sasquatch, because what man would be sliding down two trees in the middle of a forest, holding his own body weight like that? It's a fair point, and one that's hard to argue with.
After meeting with Chris, the host headed out to do his own investigation in the woods near where Daniel found that print. He set up a game camera, concealed it as best he could from both humans and potential Sasquatch, and left it overnight. Then he started walking through the forest as darkness settled in.
And this is where things took a turn.
He describes the woods as having an eerie quality that's hard to put into words. The sounds of nature were going up and down, and then everything just went dead quiet. He's unfamiliar with these woods, no firearm, no knife, just his wits. He's doing the classic stalk, stop, listen, move pattern that any seasoned investigator knows well.
Then he sees something. Red eyes. Just out there in the dark. He spots it, loses it, spots it again. And he makes the call to get out of there. Smart move, honestly. Whatever it was, it was close enough to register, and that's enough for one night.
He made it back to his truck, but not before leaving that game camera behind to do its work overnight. The anticipation of what that camera might have captured is the kind of thing that makes this hobby so addictive.
The Quantock Hills have a long, rich history of strange encounters, and this investigation is adding another fascinating layer to that story. Between the 18-inch print, the soil sample, Chris's Washington State encounter, and Jett's accidental footage, there's a lot to unpack here. The UK Bigfoot scene has been quietly building momentum for years, and videos like this are exactly the kind of thing that pushes it further into the mainstream conversation.
If you haven't watched this one yet, do yourself a favor and carve out some time. The footage speaks for itself, and the interviews add so much context to what's actually happening in those woods. This is the kind of content that reminds me why I fell down this rabbit hole in the first place.
The Quantock Bigfoot story is far from over, and I'll be watching closely to see what comes next.
