Clarke's "Mysterious World" — that legendary 1980 TV series that blew minds across the globe with its investigations into things like the Loch Ness Monster, UFOs, and other unexplained phenomena. That book apparently lit a fire under him because shortly after, his family took him to Scotland where they spent two weeks on the shores of Loch Ness hunting for Nessie. Oh, to be a kid in that situation. He also mentions seeing UFOs by age four or five, including being near the Rendles Forest incident — which, for anyone unfamiliar, is often called "England's Roswell." It happened in December 1980 near RAF Woodbridge in Suffolk, where military personnel reported strange lights in the trees and, allegedly, encounters with an unidentified craft. After major fires had scorched the area, wildlife — including Sasquatch — had been pushed into town looking for food. When she screamed, the two creatures looked up and walked right back into the forest. She was so shaken she just wanted to be taken anywhere else. But the story that really got me was another one from the Mescalero Reservation. A neighbor told Jesus about a single mom with two kids living in a cabin. A female Bigfoot and what was believed to be her juvenile — around five feet tall — walked right into the home. The mom and kids locked themselves in a room while the two Sasquatch rummaged through the kitchen, opened the fridge, ate food, and made a mess. After about 30 minutes, they left. And here's the kicker — the woman was more upset that they left the door open and let the cold air in than the fact that two Sasquatch had just been in her house. Honestly? That reaction tracks.
