Irish Steel Erector's Terrifying Bigfoot Encounter in Slovakian Forest

So I was scrolling through YouTube the other night and stumbled across something pretty fascinating on the Creek Devil channel. William Jevning, who's been a field researcher for over 40 years and a two-time witness himself, was breaking down a Bigfoot encounter that took place all the way in Slovakia. Yeah, Eastern Europe.
The story comes from an Irish steel erector who had befriended two Slovakian coworkers named Rado and Brian during the economic boom in Dublin back in the early 2000s. In June 2006, he traveled to Slovakia for Rado's sister's wedding and ended up in a small village about 150 miles west of the airport. Beautiful, heavily forested mountains and lakes - exactly the kind of place that makes you want to explore.
One morning, around 7 a.m., with everyone still asleep, he decided to take a stroll through the village and ended up on a small dirt trail winding up through a steep hill. About 15 minutes in, he noticed something was off. The forest had gone completely silent - no birds, no insects, nothing. That eerie quiet that anyone who's spent time in the woods knows is never a good sign.
Then he noticed something bipedal walking in unison with him inside the thick tree line. He stopped - it stopped. He yelled some Slovakian slang words his buddies had taught him and kept walking. Every step was copied nearly stride for stride. When he stopped again, the tree line was thinner and he could make out a big black outline, about 7 feet tall, in the brush.
That's when he took off running. And so did whatever was following him. As he ran, he caught a side view of the figure turning away back into the thick forest - about 75 feet away. What he described was something like a huge weightlifter from the side, massive physique, hair that wasn't really thick, and a head like a fox but more slender. The muzzle was like a dog but thinner and short like a fox. He only saw it for a second or two, but it was enough to ruin his favorite pastime. He hasn't hiked in Ireland since.
Now here's where it gets really interesting. Jevning brings up that this sounds like what researchers call a Type Three Bigfoot - the kind mostly reported in the Mississippi River drainage areas here in North America. These are the more aggressive, muscular builds that some researchers believe could be a distinct variant. The witness's description of the muzzle and the overall build really does match some of the more unusual Type Three reports that have come out of the Midwest.
The discussion then gets into some really fascinating territory about genetics and the possibility that Sasquatch has such a wide genome that recessive genes could pop up in different individuals - which could explain why some have more pronounced muzzles or features that look almost canine. Jevning mentions the Seven Shoots photo and how it looks more like a baboon feature, which is an interesting comparison.
But what really got me thinking was the psychology segment. Jevning, who has a background in law enforcement, talks about how high-stress, short-duration encounters are a lot like crime scenes. Your brain tries to hyper-associate what you're seeing with things you already know to be real. He gives the perfect example - everyone swears the Monopoly man has a monocle, but he doesn't. It's never been a thing.
This is exactly why witness testimony in these cases has to be taken seriously but also understood in context. The witness isn't lying - their brain is just trying to process something completely alien in a split second. And when you're running for your life from something that shouldn't exist, you're going to grab onto whatever reference points you can.
The host also brings up the dogman theory and how people might be predisposed to see certain features based on what they've heard about. It's a really balanced take that doesn't dismiss the witness but also acknowledges how our brains can fill in gaps with familiar imagery.
If you're into international Bigfoot reports or just love hearing about encounters outside the usual Pacific Northwest territory, this one is definitely worth checking out. The full breakdown and discussion on the Creek Devil channel is really worth your time.
