When Carpenter got about 30 or 40 yards away, the creature squatted behind a boulder and peeked around it with one eye — giving him that classic "one-eye" look. What happened next is wild. Carpenter, who had been learning sign language to try communicating with Sasquatch, signed "Who are you?" and got a booming, guttural response that vibrated through him: "Gerald." His dog absolutely lost it, yanking and pulling while he tried to keep filming. He managed about 45 seconds to a minute of footage before the dog pulled him away, and when he looked back, the Sasquatch was gone. The still capture from that encounter is striking — receding hairline, black hair, what appears to be a part in the hair, a real human-looking ear, and a bulbous nose. Carpenter jokes that the creature looks like "one of your crazy uncles at the family reunion." He also discusses "Black Nose," a 12-foot-plus giant he spotted hiding in a cedar tree, and a gray Sasquatch he processed frame-by-frame using MK Davis techniques to bring out the details of its face.
