Kentucky Boy's Peaceful Encounter With Female Sasquatch

So I just came across this absolutely wild story on YouTube that I had to share with you all. A man named Ray Howard sat down and told a tale from his childhood that is genuinely unlike anything I've heard before in Sasquatch lore.
The backstory alone is heartbreaking. Ray was born in Detroit, Michigan, and at just five years old, he was taken off his parents' porch by men who did terrible things to him. After that, his parents made the decision to send him down to Kentucky to live with his grandparents, Amos and Juanita Bailey, on their farm near the Green River. The property sat right along that river, and Ray's bedroom window looked out over it. At night, he could watch the barges passing by so close that the drivers would honk back at him when he waved.
Now here's where it gets interesting. Ray says he had no idea what a Sasquatch even was. His grandparents didn't have a TV, so he grew up immersed in nature. But starting around age seven, he began noticing something massive and dark moving along the riverbank, usually around 5 in the evening. It was bipedal, covered in hair, and absolutely huge. He tried telling his uncle Scott about it, but every time Uncle Scotty went to the window, the figure had vanished. After a few attempts, Ray just stopped trying to explain what he was seeing.
For months, he watched this creature travel along the Green River. Sometimes it looked like it was carrying something, possibly an animal, dragging it in one of its hands. He never told his grandparents because he figured they wouldn't believe him either.
Then came the day everything changed. A horse trailer pulled into the farm with a spotted palomino-looking horse. Ray was thrilled and begged his grandfather to let him ride it. His grandpa was cautious, no saddle, no bridle, so he wanted to test the horse first. They fed it apples from the tree and let Ray sit on its back while they stood around it.
That's when a neighbor named Mr. Riddle came putt-putting down the road in his old Samford and Sun truck. The truck died right in front of the house, and when the boys tried to start it back up, they flooded the carburetor and it backfired like a double-barrel shotgun going off. That spooked the horse something fierce. No bridle, nothing to hold onto, just Ray gripping the horse's mane as it bolted at full speed to the end of the field where a barbwire fence and a man-made pond sat.
The horse stopped on a dime and threw Ray clean over the fence into a thick brier bush. He was torn up and crying. And then, from the wood line, the same figure he had been watching from his bedroom window started moving toward him.
Ray describes what happened next as something he still can't fully explain. The Sasquatch walked right up to him, stooped down, and held its hands out. No sounds, no aggression. And then Ray says he received a mind speak, a telepathic communication that said, "It's okay. I'm not going to hurt you. I'm just trying to help you."
He describes an overwhelming peace washing over him, going from terror to calm in an instant. He looked up and examined the face closely. He says it had the most human-looking face imaginable, almost like a man, except the nostrils were flared, the eyes were sunken deep into the skull, and the head was huge and conical. He noticed a reddish color running through the front of its body, and he could tell it was female.
This kind of telepathic communication during Sasquatch encounters is actually reported more often than people realize. Researchers and witnesses have described similar experiences across North America, where the Sasquatch communicates through what some call "thought projection" or "mind speak" rather than vocalization. The Green River area of Kentucky has also had its share of reported sightings over the years, making it a region worth keeping on your radar.
What makes Ray's story stand out is how it flips the typical narrative. Most Sasquatch encounters people share involve fear, being chased, rocks being thrown, wood knocking, that kind of thing. But here is a witness describing a female Sasquatch approaching a terrified, injured child and offering comfort and reassurance. That's a side of these beings we rarely hear about.
Ray also makes an important distinction himself. He attributes the peace he felt to the spirit of God watching over him, not to the Sasquatch itself. He sees the encounter as something divine using that moment to protect him.
The full story goes even deeper, and Ray mentions there are parts of what happened that he's never heard anyone else talk about, things that still baffle him to this day. If you want to hear the rest of his account, definitely check out the video on the Mysteries Unknown YouTube channel. It's one of those stories that stays with you long after the video ends.
