In a recent episode of World Bigfoot Radio, host Duke welcomed his first-time guest, Jakub Kloucek, a researcher from the Czech Republic who now resides in British Columbia, Canada. Jakub, who is also in the law enforcement field, contacted Duke after watching his show and wanted to share some peculiar findings from his home country. During the interview, Jakub discussed a fascinating custom from his culture involving St. Nicholas and a creature known as the CH. St. Nicholas, or St. Nick, is a positive figure who gives gifts to children, while the CH is a menacing figure dressed in a fur suit with horns and hooves, resembling a Bigfoot-like creature. The CH is said to live underground and only comes out on December 5th, seeking out small children. If a child has misbehaved, the CH will take them away, but St. Nicholas has the power to prevent it. This custom has striking similarities to North American traditions, such as the Zuniá, the baset woman from the Pacific coast, and the Amat leque, the tundra ogre from Alaska. These creatures also carry baskets on their backs and take away bad children. Jakub pointed out that these traditions cannot be readily found between Czechoslovakia and North America, making the similarities even more intriguing. Jakub also shared that the Czech Republic and Slovakia, once united as one country, have different names and attributes for their creatures due to their historical connections with Germany and Hungary, respectively. Slovakians keep their legends secret from the Czechs, adding another layer of mystery to these fascinating stories. I highly recommend watching this eye-opening episode of World Bigfoot Radio and learning more about the captivating connections between European and North American folklore. The interview provides a fresh perspective on the global presence of Bigfoot-like creatures and the impact they have on various cultures.
