Another intriguing story comes from 78-year-old Earl Papy Whitaker, a retired utility line worker who encountered a massive figure near Lion Mountain in Clinton County, New York, in 1998. Earl, who spent most of his life in the wilderness, immediately recognized that this was not an animal he had ever encountered. The creature, covered in dark, matted hair, had broad shoulders, long arms, and a conical head. After locking eyes with Earl for a tense moment, the creature let out a low grunt and quickly retreated into the forest. The host finds this story particularly interesting, as she is not familiar with the Line Mountain area but recognizes its potential as a Sasquatch habitat.
