The ranger described its face as a "twisted mashup of wolf and man with a long canine snout, full of gleaming teeth, and disturbingly human eyes." The ranger tried to radio for backup again, but there was still only static in response. He drew his gun and emptied the magazine into the creature's chest, but it didn't seem to affect it. The creature charged at the ranger, but before it could reach him, a high-powered rifle shot rang out and the creature's head snapped back. The ranger was helped out of his truck by Jake, another park ranger, who had heard the shots and came to investigate. Jake explained that they had received reports of something unusual in the forest before, but this was the first time they had seen it for themselves.
