Thomas P.: The loud branch snapping and heavy footfalls woke me up several times during the dark hours of the night! My wife and I camped alone for several nights in the Eldorado National Forest. I placed one digital recorder 100-feet west of our tent site. The other recorder was placed high on a stump some 300-feet to our east. I was able to capture the heavy footfalls and loud vocalizations on both recorders simultaneously. I created a sound gap between the three recordings on this video. The first recording is of a loud branch snapping near our tent. The second and third recordings are of the extremely heavy footfalls and loud vocalizations from the two separate recorders. We actually stayed another night and quite possibly our big friend returned and took our food gift items of three apples and a pop tart! I know of no animal known to science that has such a heavy bipedal footfall and a vocalization like what we heard! I look forward in returning to gather more evidence in the near future.
