A recent video from the YouTube channel Roanoke Tales caught my attention, and I just had to share it with all of you. The video features a discussion between the channel's host and a guest, who runs two channels: Rono Gaming and Roanoke Tales. The latter channel focuses on cryptids, and the guest has been investigating missing persons cases, particularly those that have gone cold. During the conversation, the guest shares his thoughts on the dogman, a creature that is said to be half-human and half-dog. The dogman is often reported to be seen in the northern forests of the American Midwest and certain parts of Canada. The guest finds it interesting that the dogman is regionally isolated compared to Bigfoot, who has stories and sightings from all over the country. One of the things that stood out to me in the video was the guest's discussion about the caloric intake of a creature as big as Bigfoot. He mentions that a person of his size, 5'8" and 175 pounds, has a BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) of around 2080 calories. If we take something double his size, that means the Bigfoot would need around 2800-3000 calories a day. It's fascinating to think about what a creature of that size would need to eat to sustain itself. The guest also talks about the Mony people of the Eural mountains and their version of Bigfoot or Yeti, called the Minke. The Mony people have a bear cult where they worship the bear and ceremonially kill it. The guest mentions the interesting connections between their stories and Christian concepts of Nephilim. Overall, the video is an interesting discussion between two people who are passionate about cryptids and the unexplained. I highly recommend checking it out and forming your own opinions on the topics discussed. Who knows, you might learn something new!
