Have you heard the fascinating story of Daniel Boone and his alleged encounter with a Bigfoot? The tale comes from a historian named Lyman Draper, who collected stories of frontiersmen in the Appalachian Mountains in the 1850s. According to Draper's manuscript, Daniel Boone and his son were tracking horses that they believed had been stolen by Native Americans. After crossing a river, they stumbled upon a group of 500 Native Americans and quickly realized that it wasn't worth the trouble to retrieve their horses. As they were making their way back, Daniel Boone heard his son fire off a few shots. When he caught up to his son, he found a "giant man" attacking him. Daniel Boone described the creature as being about 10 and 1/2 feet tall with pale yellow skin and longish yellow fur. He shot the creature and it fell to the ground, dead. Daniel Boone told this story multiple times throughout his life, and while he didn't tell it to Lyman Draper directly, he did tell it to a boy at a party who was later interviewed by Draper. The story has been passed down and remains relatively close to the original source. So, what do you think? Could Daniel Boone have actually killed a Bigfoot? It's an intriguing tale, and one that adds to the mystery and intrigue surrounding these elusive creatures.
