Have you heard of the Albatwitch, Pennsylvania's very own Bigfoot variant? I recently came across a video from the YouTube channel Realm Of Unknown that delves into the legend of this fascinating creature. The Albatwitch is described as a very slender, apelike creature covered in reddish-brown hair, with a more pronounced neck and humanlike proportions compared to Bigfoot. It is said to be shorter, averaging between 4 to 5 feet in height. While it may seem silly, the Albatwitch has its own festival in Columbia, PA, located in Lancaster County. According to legend, Albatwitches either became extinct or were driven near extinction in the later years of the 19th century. Chickies Rock, a location within Columbia PA, is believed to be the home of these creatures. In the 1950s to the 1970s, several sightings of a manlike figure were reported in the Chickies Rock area, along with bizarre sounds heard late at night. Additionally, there were vague reports of a hairy humanoid creature seen in Lancaster, PA, and North Anville in 1973. The Albatwitch's stories are believed to date back 400 to 500 years, originating from the Susquehannock Native American tribe that inhabited the area around Chickies Rock. Christopher Vera, the president of the Columbia Historic Preservation Society, explains that the Susquehannock named the creature. Unfortunately, the Susquehannock tribe went extinct in the late 1700s, but their legacy lives on through the Albatwitch. The video from Realm Of Unknown provides a captivating exploration of the Albatwitch, and I highly recommend checking it out for a deeper dive into this unique Bigfoot variant. Who knows, you might even feel inspired to attend the Albatwitch Festival one day!
