In a recent video posted on the YouTube channel Bigfoot Society, Kevin Cook from the Iowa Bigfoot Information Center (IBIC) shares his experiences researching Bigfoot in Iowa during the late 1970s. Cook's interview is a fascinating glimpse into the early days of Bigfoot research in the Midwest.
During the interview, Cook discusses his first meeting with Cliff, the founder of the IBIC. According to Cook, he met Cliff through his father-in-law, who owned a Chevrolet dealership in Northwest Des Moines. Cliff had contacted Mr. Deon about creating a sculpture of Bigfoot, and Cook became involved in the project when it was finished.
Cook and Cliff traveled throughout the Midwest with the sculpture, exhibiting it and talking to people about their Bigfoot sightings. Cook recalls speaking with law enforcement officers, conservation officers, and other individuals about their experiences with Bigfoot. He notes that while most of the research was done by himself or Cliff, there were a few other people who occasionally joined them on their investigations.
Throughout the interview, Cook shares some of the strange sounds he heard while researching Bigfoot in Iowa. He recalls hearing whistles along the Mississippi River and unexplained vocalizations in the woods. Although he couldn't prove one way or another whether these sounds were made by Bigfoot, they certainly piqued his curiosity.
Cook also touches on the IBIC's research methods, noting that most of the investigations were conducted by himself or Cliff. He notes that back then, Bigfoot research was a lonely hobby, and that he had to cover all of his own expenses.
As a researcher of Bigfoot-related content, I am always excited to see new interviews with researchers and witnesses. Cook's interview is a valuable addition to the Bigfoot research community, and it provides a fascinating glimpse into the early days of Bigfoot research in the Midwest.
