In a recent video from the YouTube channel MonsterMen13, hosts Jack and Hunter interview author Kristin Dearborn about her latest book, "Faith of Dawn." The conversation takes an interesting turn when the topic of cryptids arises, and Dearborn shares her experience writing about skunk apes. Dearborn, who has previously written about other monsters, reveals that this is her first foray into the world of cryptids. She has written about the Aswang, a vampire-like creature from the Philippines, as well as snow monsters and rampaging alligators from New England. However, her fascination with skunk apes, which she describes as "Southern bigfoots," began when she was unable to sleep and watching Bar Rescue. When asked if there is something specific about Bigfoot and skunk apes, or if it's just a general love for monsters, Dearborn shares her appreciation for the regional offshoots of Bigfoot, such as yetis and the sasquatch. She has done research at the Crypto Zoology Museum in Portland, Maine, and has even written a book featuring the Dober demon, a creature she learned about during one of her visits to the museum. Throughout the interview, Dearborn comes across as a knowledgeable and passionate author, and her excitement about cryptids is contagious. As a Bigfoot believer myself, I found her experiences and insights to be fascinating and informative. I highly recommend checking out the full interview on MonsterMen13's YouTube channel and reading Dearborn's latest book, "Faith of Dawn." And who knows, maybe her next book will feature a sighting or two of the elusive skunk ape.
