A strange encounter in Wyoming's Wind River Mountains has been making waves in the Bigfoot community, and we couldn't wait to share it with you. The story comes from John Mayaninski, a biologist, ethnobotanist, and even a pianist, who had a memorable camping trip in the Wind River mountains while studying big horn sheep for the US Forest Service. John's experience began when he noticed a tent with a big grease stain on the side, which he couldn't resist using for his camping trip. That night, he heard something behind his tent, and it sounded like breathing. As he looked out, he saw a silhouette in the moonlight, with hair moving and pushing against the nylon. John initially thought it was a bear, but the breathing pattern was unusual, and it sounded more like an elk's grumbling. The creature became more aggressive, pushing the nylon closer to John's shoulder. In response, John grabbed a tupperware container filled with cayenne pepper and hit the tent, hoping to scare it away. However, the creature returned, and this time, John saw a hand that was twice the size of his, with an opposed thumb. The hand came down on the top of the tent, causing it to collapse on John's legs. John crawled out of the tent and rebuilt his fire, waiting to see what would come out from behind the pine trees. He heard grumbling breathing sounds, and over the next 40 minutes, he had about 20 pine cones thrown at him from behind those trees. John couldn't believe what he had experienced and took his story back to headquarters. When John told his boss about the incident, he asked if John believed in Sasquatch. John didn't know what to say, but his boss shared that there had been over 20 reports of people camping in the mountains who had seen a large hairy primate. John took on the job of interviewing these people and found some of their stories to be very plausible. One story came from a Native American family who had heard stories of Noazi, the Shoshone word for Bigfoot. They had seen a huge hairy head outside their cabin, and the father shot it with a deer rifle. However, the creature survived and ran away. John went to the site and saw how tall the creature was when the father cracked open his cabin door and saw it 30 feet away. John's story is a fascinating addition to the many Bigfoot sightings and experiences that have been reported over the years. We encourage you to watch the video and share your thoughts with us. Who knows, maybe you'll have your own Bigfoot encounter one day.
