In a recent video from the Bigfoot Collectors Club YouTube channel, host Michael McMillan interviews comedic performer and writer Brandee Stilwell about her new comic, Sasquatch Detective, from DC Comics. Brandee shares with us the origins of her character, Tanya Lightfoot, who has joined the LAPD's newly established Division City program.
Tanya Lightfoot is an interesting take on the Sasquatch mythos, as she is depicted as being more canine than ape, with claw-like nails at the end of her feet. Brandee describes her as a "tall husky hairy Audrey Hepburn," and the next issue promises a scene where Tanya is caught sharpening her nails on an antique desk at the Rampart Division of the LAPD.
Brandee mentions that she had used Tanya as a go-to character in her improv days, and it was during a writing assignment at Second City's grant program that she came up with the idea of Charlie's Angels plus the Sasquatch. The concept was a hit on stage and caught the attention of DC Comics' head publisher, Dan Dio, who encouraged her to turn it into a character.
I am always excited to see new and interesting takes on the Sasquatch mythos, and Sasquatch Detective is no exception. The idea of a Sasquatch joining the LAPD is a unique and fresh take, and I can't wait to see where Brandee takes the character.
During the interview, Brandee also shares her personal paranormal history, which began when she was seven years old and attended her godfather's funeral. She saw her godfather, Gary, sitting on a speaker in the church, even though his casket was open at the front of the church. It wasn't until years later that her mother confessed to seeing him too, but at the time, Brandee wished she had known, as it would have provided her with some comfort.
Overall, this video is a must-watch for any Bigfoot believer or comic book fan. Brandee's take on the Sasquatch mythos is both unique and interesting, and her personal paranormal history adds an extra layer of intrigue to the interview. Be sure to check out the video and keep an eye out for Sasquatch Detective on DC Comics' stands.
