In a video posted on The Paranorm Girl Podcast YouTube channel, host Kristen pays tribute to the late Peter Byrne, a prominent figure in the world of Sasquatchery. Byrne, who passed away recently, was known for his adventurous spirit and his lifelong pursuit of the elusive Sasquatch. Born in Dublin, Ireland in 1925, Byrne's love for the outdoors and wildlife was instilled in him from a young age by his father. His fascination with the Abominable Snowman, sparked by his father's bedtime stories, turned into a lifelong interest in the unknown and the pursuit of it. After serving in the British Royal Air Force during World War II, Byrne conducted his first expedition to look for the Yeti in 1946, just a year before leaving the military. He would go on to participate in two more expeditions over the course of 5 years, eventually meeting Tom Slick, a wealthy American financier who was also interested in the search for the Yeti. Together, they embarked on several expeditions in Nepal, one of which resulted in the discovery of what Byrne believed to be a mummified Yeti hand. Despite the Nepalese government's edict banning the killing, injuring, or capturing of a Yeti, Byrne and Slick were undeterred and even brought along Yeti traps on a subsequent expedition. Over the course of three years, Byrne led three separate searches for the Yeti on behalf of Slick, discovering what they believed to be Yeti footprints and possible droppings. One of the most fascinating stories from Byrne's expeditions is the tale of the mummified Yeti hand. After hearing stories of its existence in a monastery in Pang BOS, Byrne struck a deal with the monks for a small piece of the artifact, which he smuggled out of Nepal and eventually handed off to Tom Slick's friends, actor Jimmy Stewart and his wife Gloria. Peter Byrne's life and legacy are a testament to the excitement and adventure that comes with the pursuit of the unknown. His contributions to the field of Sasquatchery will not be forgotten.
