In this episode of "They Seem to be Fascinated with Humans; Sasquatch Stories" from the YouTube channel The Wolf Who Cried Cryptid, four stories are shared that feature unusual behavior by Sasquatch, including tree knocks, whooping, approaching tents, and even looking inside. The first story takes place in the Uinta Mountains in Utah, where a backpacker on a week-long trip encounters a quiet area with no wildlife, and is later awakened by loud knocks and whoops outside his tent. The second story occurs in Alcona County, Michigan, where a camper hears human-like footsteps outside his tent and feels an unseen presence touch their tin before throwing empty cans. The third story comes from a rural county in Kentucky, where a father encounters a large black creature with glowing red eyes while staying with his grandmother. The fourth story is from an unknown location, where a man finds large footprints and a tree branch bent in a perfect right angle. These stories add credence to the belief that Sasquatch are fascinated by humans and often come into camps to have a look around.
The first story takes place in the Uinta Mountains in Utah, a popular destination for fishing, hiking, backpacking, horse packing, and hunting. The original poster (OP) had embarked on a late August week-long backpacking trip through the high Uintas that would end near Granddaddy Lake where he would spend the last two nights of his trip. The Uinta mountain range was established by Congress in 1984 and covers 460,000 acres, making it the largest Wilderness Area in Utah. The OP came across two men who were leaving the area and mentioned that it had been very quiet there. When the OP got to the Basin, he immediately noticed that it was indeed extremely quiet and didn't see or hear hardly any wildlife at all, including birds. The first night passed without incident, but the following day brought a storm that caused the temperatures to drop and the snow to stick to the ground. The OP settled into his tent and was awakened by a loud knock and whoop coming from the north of his camp. The whooping continued for about 15 minutes, slowly moving to the north away from his camp before eventually stopping. The OP did not sleep well after that and had to set out early the next morning to make it to his car.
The second story takes place in Alcona County, Michigan, where a camper reports an encounter with an unknown presence while camping with one of his friends in late October. They chose a campsite that was closed for the season and upon inspecting their surroundings quickly realized they were the only ones in the area. During the night, the OP was awakened by loud footsteps in the snow that sounded human-like. Whatever it was touched their tin a few times before brushing its hand along the side, causing fear to seize him. The footsteps receded from the tent heading toward the direction of the picnic table where the OP soon began hearing whatever this was throwing empty cans. He laid there still and quiet waiting for the noise to stop before waking up his friend and asking if he heard anything. His friend had heard nothing and the OP began freaking out, asking his friend if they could just leave and head home. They packed up their belongings at around 3 AM and left. The OP wishes he had thought to check the area for footprints before they left.
The third story comes from a rural county in Kentucky, where a father encounters a large black creature with glowing red eyes while staying with his grandmother at her trailer deep in the woods. The OP was 9 or 10 years old at the time of the event but remembers overhearing a phone call his mother received from his father just after the encounter took place. His grandmother lived alone in a trailer deep in the woods and had begun hearing knocks and bangs on the outside of her trailer at night. Whatever was banging and knocking on the trailer would stop for some time but eventually start back up again. It got to the point where the OP's father began staying with her at night, but this did nothing to curtail the noises. The night of the sighting, his father was again staying at the trailer with the OP's grandmother and great aunt when they heard a loud commotion at the back door. His father picked up a flashlight and went out back to see an enormous black creature walking away from a trash can. He followed the thing down a slope toward the road and says it turned around to look at him twice before disappearing into the Woods.
The fourth story is from an unknown location, where a man finds large footprints and a tree branch bent in a perfect right angle. These stories add credence to the belief that Sasquatch are fascinated by humans and often come into camps to have a look around. If you haven't heard recordings of these whooping sounds, I would definitely recommend looking up the famous recordings known as the Sierra sounds.
