In a recent episode of the Things That Go Bump in the Night paranormal podcast, host Dan Zaleski explores four spooky legends from the Northern Ohio area, specifically around Gore Orphanage. While the podcast isn't directly related to Bigfoot, it does touch on the topic of the Peasley Road Monster, which some believe to be a Yeti or Sasquatch.
The Peasley Road Monster is said to reside near the Vermilion River, along a short road that runs parallel to the river. Although the bridge connecting Vermilion Road and Portman Road was destroyed by a flood in 1969, the steel support structure remains and is now managed by the Lorain County Metro Parks.
According to locals, the Peasley Road Monster is a Bigfoot or Sasquatch, with red eyes and a tendency to chase people away if they get too close. One neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous, recounted a chilling encounter with the monster while hunting with his dog. After realizing he needed to return to the barn, he turned around and noticed fresh, giant footprints in the snow, with a stride of over six feet. Feeling an overwhelming sense of being watched, he and his dog quickly returned home and locked the doors.
During the podcast, Dan also discusses the legend of Dean's Hollow Bridge, which is upstream from the Peasley Road Monster's territory. The bridge, built in 1898, is rumored to be haunted by the ghost of a man who committed suicide and placed a curse on anyone who sees his shadow at night. The legend claims that if you see the shadow, you will be dead by midnight. While there's no way to validate this legend, it certainly adds to the eerie atmosphere of the area.
Although not directly related to Bigfoot, the Things That Go Bump in the Night podcast offers an intriguing look at local legends and spooky tales from the Northern Ohio region. If you're a fan of the paranormal or simply enjoy a good ghost story, it's worth a listen. And who knows, maybe the Peasley Road Monster is just a distant cousin of Bigfoot, roaming the woods and rivers of Ohio.
In other news, if you're a fan of Gore Orphanage, there's a rumor that the bridge leading through Mill Hollow may be closed for repairs. If this happens, the closest bridge to cross the Vermilion River would be in Swift Hollow, also known as Gore Orphanage. This would require connecting Gore Orphanage Road, which would take a significant amount of time and money. If the road is expanded to two lanes, it would take away a lot of land from the Swift Mansion, potentially changing the landscape of the area.
Happy exploring, and remember to always keep an eye out for things that go bump in the night!
