If you're a fan of cryptids and the unexplained, you're in for a treat. A recent video from The Cryptid Huntress's YouTube channel features an interview with Robbie Raines, a police officer, researcher, and investigator who co-hosts the podcast "What's Really Out There" and "D-A ex Machina" with D.A. Roberts and Anthony.
During the interview, Raines shares his experiences and knowledge of cryptids in the South, specifically in South Carolina where he resides. He notes that the area is "chock full" of cryptids, with Bigfoot being one of the most commonly seen. However, it's not just Bigfoot that residents of South Carolina need to be aware of.
Raines brings up the topic of the Lizard Man, a creature that has been sighted in Bishopville, Lee County, and other areas of South Carolina. The Lizard Man is described as having three toes, which is unusual for a Bigfoot-type cryptid. Raines explains that most tracks found in the area are three-toed, leading to speculation that the Lizard Man may be a type of Bigfoot with its toes cut off or a reptilian creature.
The conversation then turns to alligators, which are known to have four toes on their back feet and five on their front. Raines shares a story from a friend who is an alligator hunter and once encountered a 10-foot, 550-pound alligator in two feet of water. The power of camouflage allowed the alligator to go unnoticed until it was too late.
The video also touches on mermaid sightings in South Carolina, with reports dating back to the Revolutionary War. Raines explains that the mermaids were said to swim upriver from the ocean and would comb their hair on the bank. As dams were built to stop the river flow, the mermaids were unable to continue swimming inland.
Towards the end of the video, Raines brings up the Boo Hag, a creature from Gullah folklore. The Boo Hag is said to ride people's backs while they sleep and suck the life force out of them. Raines notes that he has never discussed the Boo Hag before and is interested in learning more about it.
Overall, the video is an informative and entertaining look into the world of cryptids in South Carolina. It's a great reminder that there is still so much we don't know about the world around us, and that sometimes the truth is stranger than fiction.
