In the latest episode of the podcast "A Flash of Beauty: The Podcast," hosts Tobe Johnson, Brett Eichenberger, and Jill Raymond Snyder sit down with Mel Scahan, a Yakima tribal member and former forestry manager, to discuss his experiences and knowledge of Bigfoot. Scahan, who grew up on the Yakima reservation, was introduced to the world of Bigfoot by his great-great grandfather, who would tell him and his siblings stories of the creature and warn them to stay inside their tents at night. As they grew older, they were told more about the "people" outside their tents and the importance of respecting their territory. Eichenberger and Snyder had the opportunity to visit Scahan's backyard and follow up on some of the topics he discussed, including the storied history of strange occurrences on Mount Adams. The duo had their own share of weird experiences near Mount Adams and on the Yakima reservation. In addition to discussing Bigfoot, Scahan also shared his knowledge of the Yakima reservation, which spans 1.2 million acres and is home to a variety of wildlife and recreational areas. He discussed the importance of preserving the land and the teachings of his elders. One interesting bit mentioned in the podcast is the connection between the Yakima tribe and the Gimlin family, who are well-known in the Bigfoot community. Scahan's family has a long-standing connection with the Gimlins, with their families having known each other for many years.
