Bigfoot Sighting in North Carolina: A Terrifying Encounter
Have you ever heard of the town Minneapolis, North Carolina? No, not the one in Minnesota, but the small town in Avery County with a population of just 300 people. It's a place where the Appalachian Trail runs right through, and where the Tow River flows, creating a picturesque landscape of rugged country and mountainous forests. It's also the place where one man had a terrifying encounter with what he believes was a Bigfoot.
While watching a video from the YouTube channel Base Camp Chris, I came across this fascinating story from Shannon, a resident of Minneapolis, North Carolina. Shannon, in 2006, was working as a manager for a pizza shop in the nearby town of Newland. One night, after closing the shop, he was driving home on the Tow River Road, following the river, when he saw a large shape coming down a steep bank off to his right. At first, he thought it was a black bear, but as he got closer, he realized it was on two feet and was massive.
Shannon described the being as having muscles that were enormous, and it looked like a super-sized bodybuilder. He could see the arms swinging, and it was walking right next to his truck. As he drove by, he looked in the rearview mirror and saw this thing pivot onto the highway and start chasing his truck. Shannon dropped it into gear, gave it some gas, and looked again in the mirror. The Bigfoot was gaining on him, and he was freaked out of his mind. He put the gas all the way to the floor and held it there until the truck really started to accelerate. The Bigfoot was still running after his truck, but it finally started fading into the distance.
Shannon was so shaken up that he blew right through a stop sign and laid on the horn continuously as he pulled up to his house. His wife turned on the front porch light and came outside, yelling at him for being so crazy. He opened the truck door and ran into the house, still filled with fear. It took him about a half an hour to calm down enough to start explaining what had just happened to him.
Shannon described the Bigfoot as being eight to nine feet tall, with a super-sized athletic build, and incredibly strong and fast. He said it looked like an athlete on steroids. He also mentioned that two days after this happened, a neighbor a couple of miles down the road told him they were in their kitchen one night and something really big walked by the kitchen window. The neighbor saw this thing reach into their chicken coop and grab out a chicken, break its neck, and lay it on the ground. This Bigfoot then reached down and picked up six of them and walked off into the forest.
Shannon said he didn't want to drive down that road anymore, particularly at night. He didn't go in the outdoors for a few months, and it was hard for him to be in the dark at night. He told some people about this, but many didn't believe him. He knows what he saw, and he knows it wasn't a bear or a guy in a suit. He knows it wasn't his imagination, and he doesn't care if people don't believe him.
During my research, I found out that Bigfoot sightings are quite common in North Carolina, with over 500 reported sightings since 1970. The state is home to the Great Smoky Mountains, which provide an ideal habitat for Bigfoot, with its dense forests, abundant wildlife, and rugged terrain.
If you're a Bigfoot enthusiast, this story is definitely worth checking out. The video from Base Camp Chris provides more details and additional stories about Shannon's encounter.
