Have you ever heard of the Komodo dragon, giant panda, or Okapi? These creatures were once thought to be mythical monsters, but they were eventually discovered to be real. Could there be other legends that have come to life? The Sasquatch Archives TV’s video, “Bigfoot America’s Abominable Snowman (1968)—the long lost documentary,” explores the possibility of the existence of Bigfoot in North America.
The video begins by discussing how the Komodo dragon, giant panda, and Okapi were once considered mythical creatures but were later discovered to be real. It then goes on to discuss the Abominable Snowman, which is believed to live in the Himalayas. However, the evidence for their actual existence is unscientific and tenuous, with only footprints, eyewitness accounts, and a few odd skull caps to support their existence.
Interestingly, legends of the Abominable Snowman and its kind occur all over the world, including North America. The video highlights the vast blocks of mountain ranges running in the north and southerly direction along the West Coast of America, which form a barrier between the Great Plains of North America and the Pacific coast. These mountain ranges are home to many uninhabited areas, making it possible for unknown creatures to live there in perfect solitude and safety.
The video then introduces Roger Patterson, a cowboy who has been leading posse into the wilderness for eight years in search of Bigfoot. Patterson and his team have had several encounters with Bigfoot, with one team member describing a sighting of a creature that was “tall, maybe seven feet high and had hair all over it.” Another witness described seeing a creature that was “between 8 and 11 feet tall, standing across the lake” while camping in the Cascade Mountains.
The video also features an interview with Roger Patterson, who shares his experience of filming a Bigfoot in Northern California in 1967. According to Patterson, he and his partner, Bob Gimlin, were trying to find evidence of Bigfoot in the Humboldt County wilderness when they came across a creature that was “standing by the creek there about 120 feet away from us.” Patterson was able to get his camera out and start shooting pictures of the creature.
The video is a fascinating exploration of the possibility of Bigfoot’s existence in North America. While there is no concrete evidence to support their existence, the numerous eyewitness accounts and footprints suggest that there may be something out there that has yet to be discovered.
