In a recent episode of the Bigfoot Terror in the Woods podcast, hosts WJ and KJ Sheehan discussed a 1930's sighting of a Bigfoot in Colorado and shared some reports of Bigfoot sightings from Illinois. The episode started off with the hosts discussing the unpredictable weather in their respective states, North Carolina and New York.
As they delved into the topic of Bigfoot sightings, WJ shared a story from Illinois titled "Strange Sightings in Little Egypt: Do Cryptids Live in Southern Illinois?" written by Isaac Smith for the Southern Illinoisan e-edition. The story features Anne Dixon, who had a sighting nearly 20 years ago while driving with her then 10-year-old daughter and ex-husband near Makanda, Illinois. Dixon saw what she thought were mailbox reflectors, but as she got closer, she realized it was a mountain lion. However, at 25 feet away, she saw that it was not a mountain lion, but a crouched down figure holding something. Dixon described the creature as completely black with defined muscles and red and yellow glowing eyes.
Dixon's daughter was the first to speak up and asked if it was a Bigfoot. Dixon admitted that her sighting doesn't always make her popular and that she gets laughed at all the time. Despite this, she stands by her story and says that she knows what she saw.
The story goes on to mention that monster sightings are woven into the fabric of Southern Illinois, with tales of the Tuttle Bottoms monster, the Big Muddy in Jackson County, big black cats, giant snakes, and little red men. For some, these are far more than just folklore.
As a curator of this video, I find it fascinating to hear about these sightings and the impact they have on the people who experience them. It's good to keep an open mind and respect the opinions of those who believe they have encountered a Bigfoot or other cryptid.
In addition to the Illinois sightings, the podcast also discussed a 1930's sighting of a Bigfoot in Colorado. While the details of this sighting were not shared in the episode, it's a reminder that Bigfoot sightings are not limited to one specific region or time period.
As a curator of this video, I encourage readers to watch the full episode of the Bigfoot Terror in the Woods podcast and to do their own research on Bigfoot sightings and cryptids in general. It's good to stay informed and open-minded about these topics, as they continue to intrigue and captivate people all over the world.
