In a recent video from the Bigfoot and Beyond Podcast, hosts Cliff and Bobo sit down with Don Keating, a well-known name in the Bigfoot community. Known for his contributions to the field in Ohio, Keating has been instrumental in putting the state on the map as a "squatchy" location. During the conversation, Keating shares his early experiences in the field, including his first encounter with Matt Moneymaker, the founder of the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization (BFRO). Moneymaker, who is also known for his appearances on the television show "Finding Bigfoot," has been a prominent figure in the Bigfoot community for many years. But the conversation isn't all about Bigfoot. Keating also talks about the replica of the famous "Yeti hand" and scalp from the Pangboche Monastery in Nepal. The original artifacts were stolen in the 1990s, but a replica has been made and is now on display at the International Cryptozoology Museum in Portland, Maine. The replica was created by Sonja Howard, an artist from Nepal, and was commissioned by Mike Alsop, who runs the website returnthehand.com. The website serves as a sort of APB for the Yeti hand and scalp, offering a reward for their return and assuring anonymity for the person who comes forward with information. It's interesting to note that the Pangboche Monastery was once a popular destination for trekkers and pilgrims who would come to see the Yeti hand and scalp and make a donation to the monastery. When the artifacts were stolen, the monastery lost a significant source of income. The creation of the replica not only allows for the continued display of the artifacts, but also serves as a reminder of the importance of preserving cultural and historical artifacts. So, if you're a Bigfoot enthusiast or just someone with an interest in cryptozoology, be sure to check out the Bigfoot and Beyond Podcast and the International Cryptozoology Museum. And who knows, maybe you'll learn something new about the world of Bigfoot and other mysterious creatures.
