Have you heard of the Sykesville Monster? If not, you're in for a treat. The Sykesville Monster is Maryland's very own Bigfoot-like creature, and it has been sighted in various parts of the state since 1972. The YouTube channel Journey To The Other Side recently posted a video about this elusive creature, and we're here to give you a rundown of what they had to say.
The first recorded sighting of the Sykesville Monster occurred in 1972 when a truck driver from out of state saw the creature sitting down before it disappeared into the forest. Other eyewitnesses have reported seeing a creature between seven and eight feet in height, covered in dark brown hair. One of the most intriguing sightings occurred in 1981 when a man named Lon Strickler was out fishing and saw the monster. Strickler reported that his dog barked at something in the brush before a creature emerged, prompting the dog to attack and then run off.
Strickler called law enforcement, but when he arrived at the scene, he found the whole place taped off with state and federal vehicles present. When he returned several hours later, he found that the area was still taped off, and he was unable to get any answers from state officials. This has led some to believe that there is a cover-up regarding the entity.
One of the theories that popped up at the time was that the Sykesville Monster wasn't a monster at all but rather an escaped patient from a nearby psychiatric hospital. However, this theory doesn't hold much water, as the reported size of the monster makes it unlikely to be a misidentified human.
The Sykesville Monster is just one of many Bigfoot-like creatures that have been reported across the United States. While some may dismiss these sightings as hoaxes or misidentifications, others believe that there is something more mysterious at play. Whatever the case may be, the Sykesville Monster remains a fascinating and intriguing part of Maryland's history.

On a side note, did you know that Bigfoot is known to have a strong odor? Some have described it as a mix of a skunk and a wet dog. This has led some researchers to believe that Bigfoot may use its scent as a means of communication or to mark its territory. So, the next time you're out in the woods and you catch a whiff of something unusual, it just might be Bigfoot trying to say hello.
