In a recent video from the YouTube channel Squatch America, host Scott takes a closer look at some mysterious footprints found near Cottage Grove reservoir. The prints, discovered on February 24th, 2023, have been sent to Bigfoot researcher Cliff Barackman for comparison with casts from the infamous London Trackway, found in 2012.
In the video, Scott and Cliff discuss the similarities and differences between the two sets of prints, with Cliff noting that the new prints have a more exaggerated diagonal toe position than those from 2012. However, it's the anomalous fifth digit on the new prints that has Cliff most concerned.
"This anomalous fifth digit is always positioned way down on the side of the foot, left and right," Cliff explains. "And I think it's also very clear that one of the things that's concerning is that, like look where the beginning of the heel mark is on this track. If we line up the toes, they're pretty much lined up straight across."
Despite these concerns, Cliff is careful to note that the scientific process is all about testing hypotheses and discovering that you're wrong about things. He encourages skepticism and critical thinking in the Bigfoot community, as long as it's done respectfully.
In addition to the discussion of the footprints, Scott also shares some interesting bits of information related to track analysis. For example, he explains that the pressure ridge on a track should be behind the toes, not right in front of them. He also shares his own experiences with creating fake tracks using wooden stompers, and how the resulting prints differ from those made by a living, malleable foot.
Overall, the video from Squatch America is a fascinating look at the ongoing search for Bigfoot, and the scientific process behind analyzing potential evidence. Whether you're a seasoned Bigfoot researcher or just a casual enthusiast, there's something in this video for everyone. Be sure to check it out and let us know what you think!
