In a recent video from The Sherm Show, author Gayne C. Young shared some fascinating insights into his life and work. As a writer who has dabbled in both outdoor and supernatural genres, Young has a unique perspective that is sure to intrigue any Bigfoot enthusiast. During the interview, Young discussed his book "The Anaconda of Z," which is based on the legend of Colonel Percy Fawcett's search for the lost city of Z in the Amazon. Young took the idea a step further by imagining what would happen if people went looking for the giant snake that Fawcett claimed to have encountered. When asked about the inspiration for the book, Young explained that he was looking for something that was selling well on Amazon at the time and decided to put his own spin on the popular "Bigfoot war" series. Young also talked about his experience interviewing Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin in 2011. He explained that he had always wanted to be a writer but knew that making a living as a writer was a long shot. So, he taught while writing for various magazines on the side. When outdoor life magazine moved to an online format, Young saw an opportunity to pursue his passion for writing full-time. As an editor at large for Field Ethos Journal, former editor-in-chief of North American Hunter and North American Fisherman, and columnist for Outdoor Life, Young has had a successful career in outdoor writing. However, he admits that the industry has changed dramatically over the years. He recalls making $2,500 for his first outdoor article, while today's writers are lucky to make $350 for the same type of piece. Despite the challenges facing the outdoor writing industry, Young remains optimistic about its future. He believes that there is a resurgence of interest in traditional outdoor writing, as people are looking for more authentic experiences. He also sees the value in online magazines, such as Field Ethos Journal, which offer a different kind of experience for readers. Throughout the interview, Young shared his thoughts on a range of topics, from his love of outdoor writing to his interest in the supernatural. While he admits that he has never had a Bigfoot encounter himself, he is open to the possibility that they exist. As a writer who is always looking for new and interesting stories to tell, Young is sure to continue exploring the world of the outdoors and all its mysteries.
