In this latest video from the YouTube channel Bigfoot Encounters, a fascinating account of a Bigfoot encounter is shared that took place back in the summer of 1998. The family of five was camping in southern Oregon in the Upper Rogue River, just beyond Indian Mary Park, when they had a close encounter with the elusive creature.
As they were hiking back from the Gallus General Store, the family met a man named Randy and his wife, who were camping nearby with their two boys. When they were about halfway back, Randy's boys ran ahead, racing each other back to camp. It wasn't long before one of the boys came running back, white as a sheet, pointing down the road towards camp and saying there was a "big monster" there.
The family took off running in the direction the boy was pointing and found the other boy standing frozen and pointing down to the side of the road into a blackberry patch. They noticed several footprints, one distinct print being in the fresh asphalt and gravel that was packed down on their side of the newly installed three-foot-high guardrail. The print was over 24 inches long and at least 15 inches wide, with bent toes from the little toe to the third toe.
They also noticed two other prints deeply indented in gravel about three feet apart and heading down the bank into the blackberry bushes. The bushes were about 10 feet tall in places, but they found a distinct path that went about 40 to 50 feet into the bushes. They followed it and that's where they found its bedding, hidden in the midst of the blackberries along with a patch of hair that was caught on a blackberry stock. The hair was about three to five inches long, reddish-brownish-black color with a putrid smell, and still had some skin attached to it.
The smell was very bad, like nothing they had ever smelled before. They placed the hair in a Ziploc bag to keep and walked back to camp, wondering what they should do. Needless to say, they didn't sleep much that night. They climbed the kids best they could and built a huge campfire that they kept burning all night long.
The next day, they talked to others who were camped further down the way and about five families moved closer to their group. They took turns staying up all night and the next night as well. Randy did have a big dog, and this helped as he always let them know when someone or something was near their camp.
Late on the third night, as they sat around the campfire, the mother looked about 100 feet across the river and in the moonlight, she saw him. He was standing straight up and had to be over 10 feet tall, walking like a man, he moved very quickly straight up the steep side of the mountain. He was dark in color, his color kind of blending in with the rocks. Two days later and just at dawn, Randy and his family, who were now camped not more than 10 feet away on the other side of some bushes, came over to tell of an unnerving experience.
Randy was quite upset and asked who was playing tricks at night. He said it wasn't funny and he thought it was a dirty trick. Confused, they asked what he was talking about. A funny look came over his face, and he said, "You mean it wasn't you." He then began to describe his visitor during the night. They had retired into their small tent for the night, their dog was outside tied to a long leash. At some point, without making a sound, the dog managed to wiggle through the zipped opening of the tent and began to shake and whimper, refusing to leave.
They unhooked him, and he immediately crawled into one of their sleeping bags, going all the way to the foot. As they settled down to sleep once again, a large hand appeared on the outside of the tent and began to push down on the top of it. Randy watched as the hand pushed so far down as to almost touch them. Randy was a big guy, a drummer, and quick with his hands. He reached up and grabbed the thing around the wrist. He said it pulled away with such strength, it was as if nothing had a hold of it.
Several footprints were found outside the tent, as well as sand surrounded his camp, but they could make out where something had been walking around the site and around the tent. The impressions were deep, so whatever it was, it was big and it was heavy. They never heard a thing, but they did notice how eerily quiet it was the night before.
Growing up in the mountains of that area, the old-timers reminded them when the woods got real quiet, you climbed a tree and you didn't breathe, you stayed there till you heard the crickets again, and then it's safe to come down. They all gathered together in a group after that, about five families all camping really close together. Before they packed up and left their camp, they took the hair samples to the Grants Pass Forestry Department.
There were two men in the office, and they gave them the baggie and told them their stories. They were polite and thanked them and said they knew what to do with the sample and then it might be best for all concerns if they forgot about it altogether. But you can never forget, like she said, she grew up in the country, and she's seen panthers, cougars, wolves, and bears up close. She's seen it all now, there is something else she's seen, a Bigfoot.
In this captivating video, the family not only shares their firsthand account of their Bigfoot encounter, but they also provide valuable information about the creature's behavior and physical characteristics. From the distinct footprints to the bedding and the hair sample, this video offers a unique insight into the world of Bigfoot.
But what's even more interesting is the unrelated science bit that was mentioned in the video. The family talked about how eerily quiet it was the night before the encounter and how the old-timers used to say that when the woods get real quiet, you climb a tree and you don't breathe, you stay there till you hear the crickets again, and then it's safe to come down. This is a fascinating fact about the behavior of animals in the wild.
When the woods get quiet, it's often a sign that something is amiss. Animals have a keen sense of hearing and are able to detect even the faintest of sounds. When the woods get quiet, it means that the animals have either detected a potential threat or have become alert to a change in their environment. By climbing a tree and staying still, the old-timers were able to avoid detection and stay safe.
This is just one of the many interesting bits of information that can be found in this video. Whether you
