In a recent video from the Pikuni Bigfoot Storytelling Project, KJ Bear Medicine, a member of the Blackfeet Nation, shares three chilling encounters with Sasquatch from his community's past. The video, titled "3 Scary Encounters: Indigenous Sasquatch Stories," offers a unique perspective on Sasquatch sightings and interactions from the Blackfeet Nation's point of view. The first story takes place in the late 50s or early 60s when KJ's grandmother, who had twin babies, saw a large being peeking in her window. The being had glowing eyes and was hunched over, appearing to be quite tall. When KJ's grandmother screamed, her husband told their sons to chase the creature away. The boys chased it through the trees, hearing branches cracking as the being ran. They lost track of it near the Pine Ridge area, but found large footprints and a wallow the next morning. KJ's family believes that Sasquatch had a large territory to cover and was interested in the community due to the lights and food. This sighting was not an isolated incident, as many people in the 50s and 60s lived near the river and reported seeing Sasquatch. After the 64 flood, KJ's grandmother moved up the hill, away from the river and any further encounters. The second story occurred in the South part of the reservation, in an area known as the heartbeat area. An old lady, with tattered clothes and hairy arms, hands, face, and legs, appeared at an elderly couple's door. They invited her in, offered her food and a place to sleep. Throughout the night, they could hear her moving around, making chewing sounds. The next morning, they found a little baby's body, with all the meat off, in her bag. Cowboys later tried to rope her, but she grabbed the rope and took off into the trees. This is the last time anyone saw her. KJ shares an alternative explanation for this story, suggesting that the old lady might have been a person kicked out of the tribe who learned to live in the wild and became hairy. However, he ultimately believes that she was a Sasquatch who stole the baby. These stories, passed down through generations, offer a fascinating look into the Blackfeet Nation's experiences and beliefs surrounding Sasquatch. The video serves as an important reminder of the various perspectives and experiences within the Bigfoot community.
