In a recent episode of Bigfoot's Pad Paranormal Radio, hosts Tim, Nick, and Grant interviewed Michael Slade, a well-known Nevada and Utah Bigfoot researcher who maintains a popular blog. Slade investigates various sightings and phenomena related to Bigfoot along the West Coast. During the interview, Slade shared his background and what sparked his interest in Bigfoot research. As a child, he was captivated by the Patterson-Gimlin film and the Star Wars character, Chewbacca. These early experiences led him to develop a fascination with Bigfoot, which eventually turned into a reoccurring nightmare. Slade is a professional photographer who has been shooting for 25 years. He has worked for big news agencies and magazines, and has now turned his focus to teaching photography at Utah Valley University and Brigham Young University in Provo. When asked about his Bigfoot project, Slade explained that it is an ongoing effort to gather stories from witnesses and interpret the events through photography. He is more concerned with the oral and written accounts of the story, rather than searching for physical evidence or remains. Slade's project, which he calls "Utah Bigfoot," involves visiting the location of the sighting and interpreting the events through photography. He uses a large, handmade camera that shoots large negatives, and each picture takes a piece of film that costs several dollars. This slow and methodical process allows him to capture the essence of the location and the story being told. When asked about his preference for film over digital, Slade explained that he enjoys the permanence of film and the slower process it requires. He also mentioned that digital technology may not last more than 30 or 40 years, and there is a risk of a cultural black hole of information starting around 1995.
