In a recent episode of the Bigfoot and Beyond Podcast, host Cliff Berkman interviews a witness named Pierce who had a remarkable encounter in Aspen, Colorado. Pierce, who has lived all over the world, including Vietnam, Tanzania, and Germany, was in Colorado for seven years where he had an event company. It was during this time that he had his Sasquatch encounter in January of 1999. Aspen is an unusual place for a Sasquatch sighting because it's almost like an island unto itself, surrounded by forests and food sources for bears and other wildlife. However, Sasquatches do not hibernate in Aspen, and they have been known to come into town, rummaging through trash cans. On the night of Pierce's encounter, he and some friends had gone to the Pine Creek Cookhouse, a restaurant located in the wilderness that specializes in exotic meats such as caribou, elk, and buffalo. To get to the restaurant in the winter, one can either cross-country ski or take a sleigh ride. After a great dinner, Pierce was the last one to leave the premises and realized that he had failed to zip up his green North Face jacket, causing his keys to fall out in the snow. Determined to find his keys, Pierce walked back up the 1.1-mile hill with a headlamp, searching for his lost keys in the snow. During his search, he heard a loud noise that sounded like a tree being knocked over. Pierce initially thought it was an avalanche, but he soon realized that it was too localized to be one. He then heard footsteps in the snow, and to his surprise, he saw a Sasquatch standing in front of him. Pierce described the Sasquatch as being over 7 feet tall, with broad shoulders and a narrow waist. He had a flat face, with no nose or mouth, and his eyes were sunken in. The Sasquatch looked at Pierce for a few seconds before turning around and walking away. This encounter is a fascinating reminder that Sasquatches are not limited to the Pacific Northwest and can be found in unexpected places. Pierce's description of the Sasquatch is consistent with other witness accounts, and his story is a testament to the reality of these elusive creatures. In addition to Pierce's encounter, Cliff also mentioned some exciting news about new footprints discovered in Northern California and a potential new research location that has yielded footprints and handprints. Cliff will be attending the Ohio conference and the second annual Forks Sasquatch Days, where he will be appearing with other Bigfoot researchers and enthusiasts.
