In a recent video from the YouTube channel Creature Movie Reviews, the hosts dive into the man-versus-Bigfoot horror flick, Cherokee Creek. The film sets the scene with two hunters in the woods, who quickly establish the cardinal rule of not leaving any bodily fluids behind, lest they attract the attention of Sasquatch. Unsurprisingly, one of them promptly meets his demise when he drops a bottle and is swiftly dispatched by Bigfoot.
The story then shifts to three guys in a van, Jinx, Vinnie, and Jared, who are on a mission to prank their rich friend, Pat, as part of his bachelor party. Pat is an avid Bigfoot enthusiast, making this the perfect setting for a creature feature. The prank involves breaking into Pat's chosen campsite, scaring him, and then revealing that it was all a ruse orchestrated by his fiancée, Caroline.
As the night unfolds, the group around the campfire shares Bigfoot stories, including references to the Albert Osmond encounter and the miners at Abe Canyon. One of the partygoers, Chad, remains skeptical, leading to a heated argument with Pat. In the midst of their disagreement, Pat knocks Chad out cold.
Later, the park ranger arrives, questioning the group about their presence on restricted property. Jinx attempts to bribe her but eventually resorts to having Vinnie, a movie star, sign her chest to win her favor. The ranger then joins the group around the campfire.
As the night progresses, the strippers hired for the party arrive, and Chad decides to take revenge on the group by recording Pat's interactions with the dancers and uploading the video to social media. This prompts Caroline to rush to the campsite, where she uses a tracker on Pat's phone to locate him.
In the woods, the group is attacked by an unknown assailant, and Drew is taken out while taking a leak. Meanwhile, Chad is attacked by a rock-throwing creature while trying to hide in his tent. In a panic, he smashes everyone's cell phones, effectively cutting off any chance of calling for help.
As the survivors enjoy their time with the strippers, both girls are killed, and Jinx loses body parts. Eventually, only Patrick and Vinnie remain, now running for their lives. They manage to find a working car and drive off, leaving the rest of the group behind.
Throughout the film, Cherokee Creek follows the typical Bigfoot movie formula, with the bachelor party in the woods providing the perfect setup. The acting is decent, and the music fits the mood well. However, the film's excessive vulgarity and crass language make it difficult to recommend to a broader audience.
Despite its flaws, Cherokee Creek offers some interesting bits of information. For example, the Albert Osmond encounter and the miners at Abe Canyon are both real-life accounts of Bigfoot sightings, adding a layer of authenticity to the film's campfire stories.
In conclusion, while Cherokee Creek may not be for everyone, it serves as a reminder of the enduring allure of Bigfoot lore and the countless stories that continue to captivate audiences worldwide.
