In a video posted on The Sasquatch Discovery Project YouTube channel, a fascinating account of encounters with hairy giants, or Sasquatch, is shared from a 1950 publication titled "Milestones on the Mighty Fraser." The book, published by J.M Dent and Sons in Toronto, contains an article by CP Lions titled "The Hairy Giants of Laidlaw." The account begins with a story from over a hundred years ago, when an Indian woman was confronted by a giant while berry picking. Paralyzed with fear, she was quickly carried up the steep mountainside and taken to a large rock cave, where she found two other Indian women who had been captured in a similar manner years ago. They had been brought as wives for the giants and had since given birth to children. The captured woman was determined to escape and, with the help of the other two women, she prepared food and set out across the mountains when the giants left on a hunting trip. After facing almost unendurable hardships, she eventually made it back to her village, where she was cared for and eventually recovered. Another episode, still fresh in many of the Indians' memories, occurred several years ago in the vicinity of Laidlaw. A hairy giant entered a house, causing a woman and her two children to flee in terror. Footprints approximately 20 inches long were found in the mud along the route the woman had taken, and reddish hair was reported to have been caught in the door jamb. The Sasquatch Discovery Project video also provides some interesting information about the history of the Fraser River and the various small Indian reserves along its banks. The Fraser River is the longest river in British Columbia, Canada, and is an important part of the region's history and culture. In addition to the Sasquatch accounts, the video also touches on the arrival of the Hudson's Bay Traders in the region between 1827 and 1840. The Hudson's Bay Company was a British trading company that operated in North America from 1670 to 2022, making it the longest-operating company in the English-speaking world. The company played a significant role in the exploration and development of Canada, and its arrival in the Fraser River region would have had a major impact on the local Indigenous communities. Overall, the video from The Sasquatch Discovery Project offers a fascinating look at accounts of hairy giants in the Laidlaw area, as well as some interesting historical context.
