Recently, I came across a fascinating video on YouTube from the channel Street Of Silence about the Alabama White Thang. The video features residents of Coffee County, Alabama, Joe Blackburn and Tanner Medley, who discussed strange incidents happening in the woods. Both men, who are experienced outdoorsmen, reported hearing a loud shriek several nights, which they reiterated wasn't a coyote or any animal they were familiar with. In addition to the loud screeching, the men had reported hearing knocking on wood as well.
Other individuals in the area, including hunters and those riding ATVs, had also reported mysterious sounds and seeing unknown figures in the woods. While the men believed it was some sort of an ape-like creature and harmless, many in the community suggested it could be the legendary creature that roams these forests, also known as the Alabama white thing.
The Alabama white Thang dates back to the early 1900s, with the first recorded sighting in the late 1930s. Otis Thomas heard stories about the white thing for years but never actually saw it. Then one day, while playing in a sawdust pile in an abandoned sawmill, Otis and his brother Edward had an experience that would change them forever. The two were near the South End of the Everglades, close to Brown's Creek, when they saw the creature. The creature is described as having either no eyes or red eyes, having no ears, and being completely white and standing over seven feet tall.
In Huntsville, Alabama, the Alabama white thing is described as a humanoid or ape-like creature or even a possible alien figure spotted in caves or drainage ditches around the area of Jones Valley. The creature is known for its eerie screech, similar to the sound of a woman's scream, and a terrible foul odor, similar to the Florida Skunk ape.
The video also discusses the possibility of the Alabama white thing being a Bigfoot suffering from albinism, which is a congenital absence of melanin in an animal or plant resulting in white hair. Many animals are affected by this, including alligators, mice, and birds. If the white thing is a biological entity, then it is certainly plausible that it could be a Bigfoot suffering from albinism.
Still, others believe that this creature could be extraterrestrial in nature or perhaps coming from another dimension, which could explain the animal's ability to appear and disappear so suddenly. Perhaps today, these creatures are aware of the abilities of cell phone cameras and humans' technological advances, and due to this, they may decide to seldom come out.
The existence of ape-like creatures continues to be explored and researched in depth. Even if the white thing is never discovered, perhaps the discovery of Sasquatch or another ape-like creature will help us learn to credit the facts that these creatures did, in fact, exist at one time.
I highly encourage everyone to check out the video on Street Of Silence's YouTube channel to learn more about the Alabama White Thang. It's a fascinating topic, and the video is well worth the watch.
