In a recent video from The Faith & Mystery Files, the age-old legend of Bigfoot is explored in depth. The video delves into the history of Bigfoot sightings, starting with one of the earliest recorded discoveries in 1811 by British explorer David Thompson.
Thompson and his team encountered an unidentified set of footprints near the mouth of the Whirlpool River in Jasper, Alberta. The footprints were described as having four large toes, each with a short claw, and a ball of the foot that sank three inches lower than the toes. The hinder part of the foot did not mark well, and the length was 14 inches by 8 inches in breadth. Thompson initially thought it was a type of grizzly bear, but later realized that the short claw marks and shape of the feet did not match any known animal.
The term "Bigfoot" was first coined in 1958 by Andrew Gonzoli in an article in the Humboldt Times. The article was about a man named Jerry Crew who claimed to have found footprints of a bigfooted creature while working at a logging company in California. The men at the logging company referred to the creature as "Bigfoot" in two separate words.
The video also explores the physical description of Bigfoot, based on witness accounts. Bigfoot is described as having a lot of hair all over, similar to that of a gorilla. The hair is often described as light brown, dark brown, or black. Witnesses have claimed that Bigfoot's height ranges from 6 feet to 15 feet, and the length of the creature's footprint is about 24 inches long, almost double in size compared to an average human footprint.
There are various theories about what Bigfoot could be, including an unidentified animal, a type of ape, a type of alien, or even a human being. The video explores these theories and leaves it up to the viewer to decide what they believe.
