Recently, I came across an interesting video from the Armstrong Neighborhood Channel on YouTube featuring the Forest County Bigfoot Festival. The festival, held in downtown Marionville, attracted approximately 10,000 people this year, causing quite the traffic jam on Route 66 and 899. The festival's organizer, along with the township supervisors and the town of Marionville, did an excellent job accommodating the large crowd. The final speaker of the event was Mike Familant, a full-time Bigfoot researcher who believes that Bigfoot is a biological creature, not related to UFOs or aliens. Mike is 33 years old and from Northwestern New Jersey. He is an EMT and volunteers for New Jersey search and rescue. During the day, he looks for Bigfoot evidence such as hairs, scats, footprints, and uses investigating equipment at night to try and lure Bigfoots into his camp to gather evidence. Mike's first Bigfoot encounter happened in 2011 while he was working at a beach resort in Sarasota, Florida. He was watching Finding Bigfoot on TV and decided to join the crew on an expedition in North Florida. Although the trip was a bust in terms of Bigfoot sightings, Mike had his first encounter with the creature on the last night of the expedition. While watching a meteor shower, he and his buddy heard a knock on a tree, followed by more knocks and the throwing of rocks. Mike was initially scared and ran to his car, but his buddy convinced him to stay and observe. Over the next 15 minutes, four more rocks were thrown in their direction, with the last one being a laptop-sized boulder. Mike's second expedition was to Colt Creek State Park in Central Florida, where he and his buddy went on a no-holds-barred night of Bigfoot calling. Although they didn't see anything, the experience was thrilling and left them wanting more. Mike's passion for Bigfoot research is evident in his talk, and his belief in the creature as a biological entity is compelling. If you're interested in learning more about Mike's encounters and research, be sure to check out the video on the Armstrong Neighborhood Channel's YouTube page.
